Issue Position

Protecting the health and integrity of Minnesota's places and people

* I will promote legislation that brings cleaner water to our wells and to our lakes, rivers and streams.
* I will ensure that funds allocated through the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, which the citizens of Minnesota voted for in 2008, remain securely attached to keeping our land and water clean, and are not shifted out to other budget lines according to the whims of state legislators.
* I will protect the integrity of our district's farms and forest, ensuring that our grandchildren will inherit a landscape that we would be able to recognize. The Avon Hills Initiative is a great example of community-led land preservation through conservation easements, which other communities in the district and state could adopt to fit their own needs.
* I will listen to the needs of farmers to ensure the viability and growth of small farms in our region. I was a founding board member of the cooperatively-owned Minnesota Street Market in St. Joseph, which is a venue for area farmers and artisans to sell their products.
* I will work with the hunting and fishing communities of our district and state to help ensure that wildlife populations remain healthy and stable.
* I support the continuation and increase in funding for wind and solar energy.
